Role Details

Role Title:
Glass Toughening

The role of a toughening plant operator is to operate and program the furnace to meet internal and external specifications while following applicable manufacturing procedures.

Prepare glass and optimise time and carriage loads for best production output.

The duties include the setting of the furnace controls to regulated temperature and heating times.

Start conveyors and open furnace doors to start production. Measure temperature of product to determine necessity for adjusting furnace temperature or timing cycle.

Remove material from furnace, using crane, or manually lift toughened products to transfer it to next station.

Record time and production data.

Manage glass processing plant shutdown and re-start.

"Get it right first time" attitude.

Have the ability to make basic measurements and calculations and basic computer skills.

Communicate in the workplace.

Strict adherence to OHS requirements, policies and procedures in the glass industry.

Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices.
